Nowshera: Terrorists attacked police and security forces in the Hakimabad Dheri Kati Khel area, resulting in the martyrdom of two individuals, including a security forces officer, while two others were injured.

According to police, the forces were conducting a targeted operation in connection with the recent suicide attack in Islamabad when the terrorists launched the assault.

During the exchange of fire, ASI Ijaz Khan of Nowshera Cantt Police and an official of the ISI were martyred.

Police said one terrorist was killed in retaliatory fire, while others managed to flee the scene. A search operation is underway in the area to apprehend the escaped militants.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, speaking on a private TV talk show, said that between 600 to 700 people have been killed over the past month, a significant number of them Afghan nationals. 

He added that today’s attacker had travelled from Nowshera to Islamabad and had been moving back and forth to Afghanistan in recent months.

Following the incident, the area has been cordoned off and security has been further tightened.
