PESHAWAR: Two suspects allegedly wanted in several serious criminal cases were killed during an alleged police encounter in the Bhana Mari area of Peshawar, police said.

According to Capital City Police Peshawar, the deceased were identified as Shakir, son of Lal Muhammad, a resident of Zanday, and Usman, son of Fazal Ghani, a resident of Dalazak Road.

Police said the two suspects were wanted in 13 cases involving robbery, street crime, murder, attempted murder, attacks on police and other serious offences.

Police said the suspects had allegedly robbed a jewellery trader of Rs178 million at gunpoint on Civil Quarters Road in the jurisdiction of Bhana Mari police station on July 22, 2026. A case, registered as FIR No. 902 under Section 392 of the Pakistan Penal Code, was subsequently registered at Bhana Mari police station.

According to police, they received information that the wanted suspects were present at Ghazi Baba Lara graveyard and were carrying a bag. A police team reached the location, where an exchange of fire allegedly took place between the suspects and police, resulting in the deaths of both suspects.

Police said Rs6.8 million, allegedly part of the money stolen from the jewellery trader, along with a Kalashnikov, a pistol and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspects.

Police further said that a record check showed that the two suspects were wanted in 13 cases registered at different police stations, including Bhana Mari, Chamkani, Pahari Pura, Sarband and Agha Mir Jani Shah.

The cases include robbery, attempted murder, attacks on police, preparation for robbery and other serious charges.

According to police records, cases were registered against the suspects at Bhana Mari, Chamkani, Sarband and Agha Mir Jani Shah police stations between 2020 and 2026.

Among them was FIR No. 902 registered at Bhana Mari police station on July 22, 2026, under Section 392. Cases registered at Chamkani police station included FIR No. 23 of February 27, 2023, under Section 392; FIR No. 131 of January 14, 2025, under Section 11-C of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act; and several other cases registered in 2025 and 2026.

Police records also showed a case registered at Sarband police station in 2023 and another at Agha Mir Jani Shah police station in 2024.
