
PESHAWAR, November 22: United States President Mr Barack Obama has taken Pakistani Prime Minister Mr Nawaz Sharif into confidence over his proposed visit to India in January, says the Foreign Ministry.
According to a statement, Mr Sharif also invited Mr Obama to visit Pakistan during a telephonic chat.
The US president assured the premier that he would visit Pakistan in due course.
The statement says Mr Sharif asked Mr Obama to make efforts for improvement of Pakistan-India relations during his visit.
Mr Obama appreciated the cordial relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan and said it would ensure pace in the region.
The two leaders also discussed bilateral trade relations between the US and Pakistan and the counter-terrorism efforts.
The US president is expected to visit India in January to participate in India’s Republic Day ceremony on the invitation of the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi.
