vegetable market, kohat story

KOHAT, July 7: The Kohat district administration has decided to shift the vegetable market from Hangu road in the city to Bannu Road.

The Assistant Commissioner, Mr Farrukh Ateeq, told a meeting of traders and police officers on 7 July that a new Mandi (market) had been set up on Bannu road at a cost of millions of rupees, with all basic facilities available there.

He said all the traders must be shifted to the new Mandi after Eidul Fitr. However, many traders have rejected the decision, saying the new market had no proper security and other facilities.

One of the traders told TNN, “We cannot compromise on it because security situation is poor in the newly established market. We will shift to the new site once the administration ensures proper security to us as per the construction plan. Every trader has cash amount and valuable items, which need security.”
