Elders of Wandgari, a sub-clan of the Bar Qambar Khel tribe in Wandgari, Bara tehsil of Khyber district, the native area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, have demanded the launch of development projects in the area.

At a jirga, it was also decided to form a development committee in consultation with local elders and conduct a survey of all areas of Wandgari.

The elders demanded that development projects based on the needs of the area—including roads, protection walls, solarization, tube wells, repair of streets, schools and hospitals, and other basic facilities—be launched immediately.

A committee was also formed at the jirga to meet Chief Minister Sohail Afridi or his brother, Naveed Afridi, and brief them about the problems and demands of the people of Wandgari. The committee will also invite the chief minister to hold an open court in the area.

At the jirga held at Tor Khel Market, the elders said that the people were increasingly feeling deprived due to the neglect of Wandgari in development projects. They demanded an end to the injustice against Wandgari and the immediate launch of development projects according to the needs of the area.

On the occasion, Haji Shaukat Afridi said that he was grateful to Imran Khan for selecting Sohail Afridi, a young man from the tribal areas, as chief minister. He said Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was a source of pride for the Qambar Khel tribe.

However, he said that the people were increasingly feeling a sense of deprivation because the areas of Bar Qambar Khel and Tappa Wandgari had been neglected in development projects.

Haji Shaukat Afridi urged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to personally take notice of the issue and ensure that Wandgari receives its legitimate rights and basic facilities.

It is pertinent to mention that the Bar Qambar Khel tribe in Bara tehsil falls within the constituency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
