According to the Meteorological Department, rain with thunderstorms in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is possible over the next 24 hours. This rainy weather is expected to continue until May 19.
The Department of Meteorology has also forecasted a significant rise in temperatures across most districts of the province, with daytime temperatures likely to increase by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius between May 21 and 27. In response to these weather conditions, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to all district administrations.
The PDMA has instructed district administrations to prepare for any potential incidents due to dusty winds, windstorms, or thunderstorms. It emphasized the importance of ensuring the availability of necessary machinery to handle any emergencies promptly.
Given the expected temperature rise, residents are advised to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and to take precautionary measures to stay cool. Farmers should adjust their irrigation schedules according to the weather, especially in areas where wheat harvesting is ongoing.
In the event of strong winds, people should keep a safe distance from power lines, old buildings, structures, and billboards. Tourists and locals in sensitive upland areas are advised to stay informed about weather conditions and take necessary precautions.
The PDMA's Emergency Operations Center is fully functional and ready to respond. People can report any emergencies by calling 1700.
