Peshawar: A high-level meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to review the province’s security situation decided to keep educational institutions closed, remove containers in phases and partially restore internet services.
The meeting was attended by Adviser on Home Affairs Kifayatullah Khan, Chief Secretary Dr Muhammad Fakhr Alam Irfan, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, Additional Chief Secretary Home Amjad Ali Khan, Additional IG Special Branch Muhammad Kashif Alam, Additional IG Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), CCPO Dr Mian Saeed, Joint Director General Intelligence Bureau Arshad Ali Khan and other relevant officials.
During the meeting, the governor was given a detailed briefing on the overall security situation in the province, counterterrorism measures and the prevailing circumstances.
It was decided that all containers in Peshawar would be removed in phases as soon as possible, while internet services would be partially restored according to the need.
The meeting also decided to increase the compensation package for police martyrs and review police personnel’s salaries. Participants agreed to pay special attention to the education and training of the children and other dependents of martyred police personnel.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi appreciated the role of the administration and police, saying that it was encouraging that no untoward incident had occurred under the prevailing circumstances.
He said eliminating terrorism was the government’s top priority and that the capacity of the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) would be further strengthened to achieve this goal.
