A suspect wanted in the murder of his wife in the Matta area of Upper Swat was killed in a police encounter.

According to police, a few days ago, the throat-slit body of a woman was found near Boda Baba Graveyard in the Balasoor area, with her two-year-old child sitting beside her. Local residents alerted the police after hearing the child crying.

During the investigation, police discovered that the victim had allegedly been taken from her home by her husband, Saif-ul-Muluk, under the pretext of taking her to a hospital. Police said he murdered her on the way, dumped the body near the graveyard, and fled.

Local sources claimed that the deceased suspect was addicted to crystal meth (ice) and had served prison terms in various cases between 2010 and 2016.

Police said further legal proceedings are underway.
