Woman dies of burns, FIR against husband, in-laws in Charsadda

NOWSHERA: A 19-year-old woman was burnt alive on Saturday allegedly by her husband and his family over a “family dispute” in station Korana area of district Charsadda.

The victim was identified as Naila. She was a resident of Nowshera and was married to a man identified as Haroon in Charsadda two years back.

She has left behind a one-year-old son.

Her parents told media that her in-laws have informed them that she has put herself on fire and has been shifted to a hospital in Charsadda in critical condition. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was shifted to Hayatabad medical complex in Peshawar where she succumbed to her burn injuries. Her dead body was shifted back to Charsadda hospital from where it was handed over to her parents after necessary medico-legal procedures.

Her dead body was shifted to her ancestor village in National Korona near Kabul River in Nowshera district where besides her family members, local people have gathered at her parents’ home and demanded the government to provide them justice.

Her parents while registering a case in Charsadda City police station said that she was allegedly burned alive with petrol by her husband, Haroon, with the help of her in-laws. Charsadda police have registered murder case against her husband Haroon and other members of the family namely Peermand, Zahoor and Sheraz Khan and started a search for their arrest.

According to Charsadda Police, gruesome crime is the result of domestic violence. Police added it was reported that their relationship was tense for a long time and her husband would use to torture her. Her parents have informed that police that she was also tortured allegedly by husband several times in the past but they have ignored the issue.

Her mother while talking with TNN demanded the government to provide her justice. She demanded the PTI government to arrest her killers and award exemplary punishment so that in future no one commits such a heinous crime against women.
