CHITRAL, July 22: Unidentified people set fire to precious wood at the Forest Department office in Saidabad area of Chitral district, causing the exchequer millions of rupees loss.
Local residents say unidentified people first sprinkled oil on Deodar wood and then set fire to it at a government depot, reducing 42 sleepers to ashes.
Officials of the department said the depot was having wood worth 90 million rupees but that the local residents and fire brigade department doused the fire forthwith.
