BISHAM, September 1: Construction work has been started on a 132kv grid station in Shangla district.
The estimated cost of the construction work is 420 million rupees. On 31 August, the Member National Assembly (MNA) elected from Shangla, Dr Abdullah Khan, told the inaugural ceremony that the project would be completed in one year.
He said the project would electrify Bisham and other adjacent areas. He added that electricity would be supplied to the grid station from the Khan Khwarh dam.
People of Bisham and other areas had been demanding electricity supply from the local Khan Khwar dam and had even staged protests for this purpose. Many have appreciated the decision and new project.
A local resident, Mr Waheed Zaman, told TNN, “Electricity is the biggest problem our people have been facing. We have met senior officials several times to resolve this issue. We are thankful to the authorities. Hopefully, work on the power project will be completed on time.”
