JAMRUD, September 16: The Public Health Department of Khyber Agency has completed work on solar energy system for a tube-well in Ghariza area in Jamrud tehsil, at a cost of 5 million rupees.
According to the department’s superintendent Mr Qazi Azam, the scheme will benefit about 800 households. He said three solar energy systems had already been completed in various and that work on solar systems for another four tube-wells would be started soon.
Local residents say they have no option but to fetch water from far-flung areas and that the scheme would solve their problems.
“We thank the government for launching the solar unit at tube-well in our area. We used to buy water tanks but now it will fulfill our water needs,” said a resident of the area.
