Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Young Doctors Association (YDA) has announced to boycott outpatient department duties in all teaching hospitals of the province in protest against sacking of a trainee doctor for appearing in TV show by the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).
Sources said that an inquiry committee constituted by the LRH management had recommended termination of trainee medical officer Dr Kiramatullah for appearing in a TV show. In light of the probe committee recommendation, LRH’s Associate Dean has notified the termination of Dr Kirmatullah.
The hospital accused Dr Kirmat of violating LRH’s rules on multiple occasions and engaging in propaganda against hospital management
On the other hand, YDA said that the sacked doctor had raised voice against corruption in the hospital and his services were terminated for the same reason.
Dr Asfandyar Bhittani, president of the YDA said that they will boycott OPD duties at all teaching hospitals on Friday in protest against Dr Kiramat sacking. “We will only provide emergency services to patients at hospital,” he said.
