The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department has started implementing a student e-attendance system in degree colleges across the province, allowing parents to monitor their children’s attendance from home.

Provincial Minister for Higher Education and Local Government Meena Khan Afridi inaugurated the student e-attendance system at Government Degree College Peshawar.

 Representatives of Zong Telecom, the Higher Education Department secretary, director, teachers and students attended the ceremony.

The Higher Education Department and Zong Telecom also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the system.

Speaking at the ceremony, Meena Khan Afridi said parents would be kept informed about students’ attendance through SMS. “Parents will have access to the complete record, including the classes in which a student remained absent,” she said.

The provincial minister said the department had also introduced an e-transfer system to improve the transfer process for teachers and other staff.

She added that a university ranking system had been introduced in the province. The minister also said the government was working to introduce a hardship area allowance for teachers serving in remote areas.

Meena Khan Afridi further announced the construction of a state-of-the-art hall at Government Degree College Peshawar.
