Polling for the second phase of elections to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly will be held on August 2 for two constituencies: Valley Kashmir-6 (LA-45) and Jammu-6. The electoral process will take place across 22 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), including Peshawar, with all necessary arrangements in place.

According to the Election Commission, Kashmiri refugees residing in KP, including Peshawar, will cast their votes for the LA-45 Valley Kashmir-6 constituency. A total of 7,655 registered voters are eligible to vote, including 4,121 men and 3,534 women.

For the elections, 41 polling stations have been established across the province, comprising 5 male, 10 female, and 26 combined polling stations. A total of 70 polling booths have also been set up, with 33 designated for men and 37 for women.

In Peshawar, where 1,520 registered voters are eligible to vote, two polling stations have been established. The male polling station is located at Government Shaheed Osama Zafar Sentinel Model High School No. 2, Peshawar City, while the female polling station has been set up at Government Shaheed Hasnain Sharif Higher Secondary School No. 1, Peshawar City.

The Election Commission said seven candidates are contesting the LA-45 seat. Khawaja Muhammad Dilawar Wani is the joint candidate of the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Other candidates include Abdul Hameed Butt of Jamaat-e-Islami, Abdul Majeed Khan of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Mirza Khalil-ur-Rehman Baig of the Jammu Kashmir United Movement. Independent candidates are Bashir Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Zaryab, and Muhammad Fayyaz.

The Election Commission said Kashmiri refugees residing in 22 districts of KP will participate in the electoral process. Mansehra, with 3,480 registered voters, will have nine polling stations; Abbottabad, with 1,105 voters, will have two polling stations; Haripur, with 625 voters, will have two polling stations; and Peshawar, with 1,520 voters, will also have two polling stations.

In other districts, registered voters will cast their ballots at the offices of the respective District Election Commissioners. These include 4 voters in Charsadda, 88 in Nowshera, 33 in Mardan, 3 in Swabi, 2 in Kohat, 1 in Lakki Marwat, 5 in Lower South Waziristan, 2 in Tank, 18 in Upper Dir, 1 in Lower Dir, 1 in Shangla, 1 in Buner, 2 in Upper Chitral, and 9 in Upper Kohistan.

Additionally, Dera Ismail Khan, with 391 registered voters, will have two polling stations, while Battagram, with five registered voters, will have one polling station. Swat, with 536 voters, will have six polling stations, and Kolai-Palas, with eight registered voters, will have polling arrangements at two different schools.
