Mohmand District: The Frontier Corps (FC) camp of Mohmand Rifles, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mohmand district near the Afghanistan border, was attacked by the Taliban. According to local sources, explosions and gunfire were heard at the time of the attack, which later resulted in a fire. However, the authorities have not yet reported any casualties.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) initially claimed responsibility for the attack but has not provided further details about the incident.

According to Pakistani security sources, at around 4:00 a.m. on Friday, four attackers attempted to enter the FC camp in the tribal district of Mohmand. All four attackers were killed, including three suicide bombers.

In a statement, the Mohmand district police said that the attackers entered the Mohmand Rifles camp through a mountainous route around 4:00 a.m. Two of the attackers detonated their explosives during the exchange of fire with the forces. The statement also mentioned that the explosions caused partial damage to the buildings within the camp, but so far, no casualties among the forces have been reported.

The police confirmed that the forces have control over the building, and a search and clearance operation is ongoing by the forces and FC. The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Sources further revealed that during the exchange of fire, a room filled with supplies inside the FC camp caught fire, which was brought under control by Rescue 1122.

In a similar incident in November 2016, four attackers targeted the same camp early in the morning, resulting in the deaths of two FC personnel and injuries to 14 others. In the retaliatory operation, all four attackers were killed. At that time, the attack was claimed by the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar faction of the TTP.
