BANNU: The death toll of the terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment has risen to 16, while five valiant soldiers embraced martyrdom while thwarting the assault.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists launched a cowardly attack on Bannu Cantt on March 4, 2025, attempting to breach the security of the garrison. However, alert and brave security forces decisively foiled the attack, forcing the terrorists into a desperate move of ramming two explosive-laden vehicles into the cantonment walls, causing significant damage.
The ISPR stated that Pakistani forces displayed exceptional courage and professionalism, eliminating all 16 terrorists, including four suicide bombers. During the fierce exchange of fire, five soldiers were martyred.

The multiple suicide blasts caused a section of the cantonment’s outer wall to collapse, severely damaging nearby infrastructure, including a mosque and a residential building. Tragically, 13 innocent civilians lost their lives, while 32 others sustained injuries.
ISPR further revealed that intelligence sources confirmed the direct involvement of Afghan nationals in the attack, with evidence pointing towards instructions from a terrorist leader based in Afghanistan.
Pakistan has urged the Afghan interim government to fulfill its responsibilities by ensuring that Afghan soil is not used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. The statement also emphasized that Pakistan reserves the right to take necessary measures to counter cross-border threats.
