A new polio case has been reported from Bannu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, taking the total number of polio cases reported across the country in 2026 to five, according to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC).

According to the NEOC, the latest case was reported from Bannu.

The NEOC said the anti-polio campaign was conducted in 112 selected districts across the country from September 21 to 27, during which more than 28.2 million children were administered polio drops.

The NEOC said polio is an incurable disease, but children can be protected through vaccination. It urged parents to ensure that their children receive polio drops during every anti-polio campaign.

The NEOC also urged parents to ensure that their children complete their routine immunisation schedule on time along with receiving the polio vaccine.

According to the NEOC, eradicating polio from the country is a shared national responsibility.
