Relatives of a young man who was killed in an alleged police encounter staged a protest in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by placing his body at Jail Chowk, blocking the Indus Highway for all kinds of traffic.

The protesters termed the incident a fake police encounter and demanded a transparent investigation, a declaration that the deceased was innocent, and legal action against the police officials allegedly involved.

The protest was led by Khattak Ittehad President Mudassar Ayub. Family members of the deceased maintained that the victim was innocent and had been killed in a staged encounter. They called for an impartial inquiry and for those responsible to be brought to justice.

According to the police, an exchange of fire took place late last night near Shaheedan on the Indus Highway with suspected robbers allegedly involved in snatching vehicles from citizens. Police said one suspected robber was killed in the encounter, while his accomplice escaped despite being injured.
