PESHAWAR: Important details have emerged from the initial investigation into the bodies of a man and a woman found in the Armar Payan area of Peshawar.
According to police, the deceased were husband and wife who had entered into a love marriage a few years ago. Investigators suspect the killings may be linked to that marriage.
Police said that on Sunday night, the bullet-riddled bodies of a man and a woman were recovered from the Mumtaz Garhi area within the jurisdiction of Armar Police Station. Unknown assailants allegedly killed the couple and dumped their bodies before fleeing the scene.
The male victim was identified as Naheed, son of Inamullah, a resident of Shera Kera. However, the identity of the woman has not yet been established. Police added that no mobile phones were found on either of the victims.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had secretly married about three years ago without their families’ consent. Authorities are considering seeking assistance from NADRA to identify the woman, while further evidence is being examined.
Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact motive behind the killings. However, initial findings suggest the couple may have been victims of an alleged honor killing. Officials stressed that the facts will become clearer once the victims’ families are traced and the investigation is completed.
Police further stated that, until the filing of this report, no relatives of either victim had come forward or contacted authorities.
