A case has been registered with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Kohat over the terrorist attack on the Khazina Banda check post in Hangu. The FIR was lodged by the SHO of CTD Kohat under the Anti-Terrorism Act and 16 other legal provisions.
According to the FIR, the terrorists attacked the Khazina Banda check post using heavy and automatic weapons. At the start of the assault, a police post established at the Government School in Khazina was targeted in a drone strike, leaving two police personnel injured.

The FIR states that after receiving information about the attack, a police contingent led by the DSP rushed to the area. However, the terrorists ambushed the force on the way using drones and heavy weapons, damaging official vehicles, including an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).
The FIR further states that the attackers also took away police weapons during the assault.
Following the incident, a search and clearance operation was carried out in the area, while the CTD Kohat has launched further investigations.
According to police officials, the attack resulted in the martyrdom of 11 police personnel, while 28 others sustained injuries.
