The illegal sale of government-issued medicines at Lady Reading Hospital, the largest hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been uncovered. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested six suspects, including three employees of the hospital, in connection with this crime.
The arrested individuals are Sulaiman, Abdul Jabbar, Abid, Imad, Tahir, and Yousaf Jan. Yousaf Jan has been identified as the mastermind behind the operation. Sulaiman, Abdul Jabbar, and Abid were working as technicians at Lady Reading Hospital.
FIA officials revealed that the suspects were involved in the smuggling of government medicines worth lakhs of rupees. These medicines, meant for Lady Reading Hospital, were illegally sold by the accused.
To apprehend the suspects, the FIA conducted raids at various private hospitals in Peshawar. A significant quantity of government medicines was recovered from the warehouses of two private medical stores during these operations.
An FIA spokesperson stated that a crackdown has been initiated against those involved in the illegal sale of government medicines. Records from private hospitals implicated in these illegal activities are being collected, and raids have been extended to other hospitals. The spokesperson emphasized that strict action will be taken against those who harm the national treasury.
