CHARSADDA: A violent clash between two groups in Charsadda’s Babakri village turned deadly on Monday evening, leaving five people, including two brothers, dead and one injured just before Iftar.

According to police spokesperson Safiullah, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Tarnab police station when a minor dispute escalated into an armed confrontation.

What Led to the Deadly Confrontation?

Police reports indicate that the dispute began when individuals from one group were sitting on a roadside charpoy engaged in conversation. Members of the opposing group objected, claiming that their presence compromised the privacy of their home and violated the sanctity of their family's space. A heated argument ensued, quickly spiraling into an exchange of gunfire.

As a result, Asim (son of Khasta Gul), Niaz Gul (son of Khasta Gul), and Zahid (son of Nazar Gul) from the first group lost their lives. From the second group, Hazrat Ali (son of Khursheed) and Safdar (son of Azad Khan) were also killed. Additionally, Sulaiman (son of Azad) sustained serious injuries and was taken into custody before being shifted to the Charsadda District Headquarters Hospital.

Four of the victims died on the spot, while Zahid succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. Police have registered a case under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched an investigation.

Burial Delayed Amid Rising Tensions

Local sources reported that as of late Monday night, the burial of the deceased had not taken place due to fears of renewed clashes. Since both groups share the same graveyard, there were concerns that tensions could erupt again during the funeral.

Elders from the community, along with the police, were engaged in efforts to schedule separate burial times to prevent further violence. The tragic incident has left the area in shock, with authorities assuring strict legal action against those responsible after a thorough investigation.
