BANNU: At least four people, including a mother and her two sons, were killed while two others, including a young girl, were injured in a firing incident in the Shabri Bharat area within the jurisdiction of Kaki Police Station in Bannu, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, the incident occurred over a dispute involving women. Armed assailants allegedly entered a house and opened fire, resulting in the deaths of four family members.

The deceased have been identified as three brothers — Junaid, Asneed, and Amjad — along with their mother. Initial reports suggest that the victims belonged to the Dawar tribe.

Two people, including a minor girl, sustained injuries in the attack and were shifted along with the bodies to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for treatment and medico-legal procedures.

A heavy contingent of police reached the area soon after receiving information about the incident and launched an investigation.

Police said the suspects fled the scene after the attack. No arrests have been made so far, while the identity of the rival party has not yet been disclosed.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the suspects.
