The impact of rising petroleum product prices is beginning to affect the prices of essential commodities, with the country’s weekly inflation rate increasing by another 0.49%.
According to the latest weekly report from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the annual inflation rate has reached 9.66%, while the prices of 23 commodities increased during the week.

The report said that prices of 10 commodities decreased, while the prices of 18 items remained unchanged. According to the data, petrol prices increased by 3.77% during the week.

Prices of vegetables and other essential items also rose. Onions became 14.17% more expensive, while chicken prices increased by 3.35%. Prices of gram lentils, garlic, tea and several other items also increased.

On the other hand, egg prices decreased by 5.78%, while diesel became 5.15% cheaper. Tomato prices fell by 4.99% and potato prices by 1.17%. Sugar, LPG and bananas were also among the items that became cheaper.
