Meanwhile, gold prices also climbed in the international market. Experts attribute the increase to changing expectations regarding U.S. interest rates, a weaker U.S. dollar, and increased gold purchases by central banks around the world.

According to the World Gold Council, central banks purchased a total of 41 tonnes of gold during May, while prices of silver, platinum, and palladium also recorded gains.
