The federal government has started considering imposing income tax on farmers to meet IMF demands and achieve the agricultural income tax collection target.

According to sources, the government is working with the provinces on an alternative plan to meet targets for agricultural income tax collection and tax return filings.

Sources say the government will give the provinces until September 30, 2026, to meet their agricultural income tax collection targets.
