The number of people travelling illegally from Pakistan to Europe has declined by 64 percent, while the government has decided to further strengthen measures aimed at completely eliminating illegal immigration and improving border management.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held separate meetings with the Director General of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the Executive Director of the European Union’s Border and Coast Guard Agency.

During the meetings, the sides agreed to enhance mutual cooperation to prevent illegal immigration and improve border management. They also expressed a commitment to make joint measures in this regard more effective.

Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the government’s target was to completely eliminate illegal immigration and that the goal would be achieved at all costs.

He said creating new opportunities for people to travel abroad through legal channels was essential to further reduce illegal immigration.

The ICMPD Director General praised Pakistan’s efforts to prevent illegal immigration.
