PESHAWAR: One transgender person was killed and another injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire in an abandoned field near Dando Bridge, close to the vegetable market in Chamkani, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Chamkani Police Station late on Tuesday night. 

The deceased was identified as Mishal alias Mashi, who died at the scene, while Basir Wali, 22, son of Syed Wali, an Afridi resident of Parvez Plaza, Hashnagri, sustained injuries.

Police said initial information suggests the shooting may have stemmed from a personal dispute. A case has been registered against unidentified suspects, and an investigation is underway from multiple angles.

Authorities said the exact motive behind the attack will be determined after the investigation is completed.
