According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), heavy rains and flash floods that have continued across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since July 19 have claimed 14 lives and injured 19 others in various incidents.

The deceased include six men, six children, and two women, while the injured comprise 11 men, four women, and four children.

The PDMA said that 28 houses were damaged due to heavy rainfall, collapsing roofs and walls, and flash floods. Of these, 22 houses sustained partial damage, while six were completely destroyed.

The authority stated that the incidents occurred in Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Lower Chitral, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Torghar, Kurram, and North Waziristan.

According to the PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other relevant agencies are actively engaged in relief operations. District authorities in the affected areas have been directed to expedite relief efforts, provide immediate assistance and relief supplies to affected families, and ensure all possible support.

The authority added that water levels and flows in all rivers and streams across the province remain within normal limits. However, intermittent rainfall is expected to continue until July 23, and all district administrations have already been placed on alert.

The Director General of PDMA has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist destinations, and strictly follow official alerts and advisories.
