Peshawar: The administration of Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) has termed a video shared on social media by former doctor Muhammad Asif Shah as misleading, saying that Dr. Asif Shah concealed facts and presented a fabricated version of events.

According to the HMC administration, Dr. Muhammad Asif Shah initially applied for three months’ leave, which was approved. However, after completing his leave, he did not rejoin government duty and remained continuously absent.

The administration said that during his absence from government duty, Dr. Asif Shah continued seeing patients at a private clinic, while promotional videos of the private clinic were also shared on social media.

HMC said Dr. Asif Shah was directed through several official letters to return to duty. The Board of Governors also heard his position and instructed him to resume government service.

According to the administration, Dr. Asif Shah admitted before the Board of Governors that he had been working at a private clinic. Following this, his period of absence was adjusted as leave without pay.

HMC said Dr. Asif Shah was summoned twice for a personal hearing but did not appear.

The administration said that action was taken against him under the relevant laws and regulations due to his continuous absence and negligence of duties, and Dr. Muhammad Asif Shah was subsequently dismissed from service.

The hospital administration said all matters related to Dr. Asif Shah’s dismissal are part of the official record, adding that compliance with rules and regulations is mandatory for all employees, including doctors.

The administration further said that Dr. Asif Shah is now portraying himself as a victim on social media and distorting the facts, while the action against him was taken over his continued absence from government duty and his work at a private clinic.

It may be recalled that Professor Dr. Muhammad Asif Shah, a well-known plastic surgeon at Peshawar’s Hayatabad Medical Complex, had released a video on social media.

In the video, Dr. Asif Shah alleged that the hospital administration had dismissed him from his position without any reason.

Dr. Asif Shah also raised questions over his dismissal and presented his position on the matter in the video.
