Khyber District: Clash Between Police and Militants During Polio Duty Attack in Meri Khel

KHYBER: A clash erupted between police and militants at the Melward Police Station in Bara, Khyber district, after terrorists attacked a security team assigned to polio duty in the Meri Khel area. Swift action by the police resulted in one militant being injured.

According to the police spokesperson, a search operation is underway in the mountainous areas to track down militants who fled the scene. During the operation, police recovered two submachine guns (SMGs) from the forest.

This incident follows a series of violent events in the region. Just a day earlier, the bodies of Sher Muhammad Afridi, president of the local traders' association, and his cousin were found in the Tirah Valley of Khyber district. The two had been abducted several days prior.

In another recent attack, Constable Abdul Khaliq, assigned to polio duty, was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle assailants in the Ghundi area of Jamrud tehsil, Khyber district.
