For the first time in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a state-of-the-art 'Police Facilitation Center' has been established under the supervision of the police department. This center will offer services under one roof, including the handling of lost documents, extortion complaints, verification of stolen vehicles, issuance of character certificates and driving licenses, and tenant registration.
The District Police Officer (DPO) of Charsadda inaugurated the Police Facilitation Center, located near the DPO office on Main Mardan Road. The center comprises 16 staff members, including a senior female officer. A separate desk has also been set up to address the issues faced by women.
Jahangir Khan, the center's in-charge, explained that the facility will allow the public to resolve all personal legal document-related matters under one roof. He stated that services provided include police character certificates, security clearances, verification of stolen vehicles, reports of theft, missing persons, lost items, lost documents, extortion complaints, ID card verification, tenant registration, and issuance of driving licenses.

Khan told TNN, "Many people are unaware of the necessary documentation required for lost or new documents, so we have issued a helpline number, 0919220416, where they can get information to avoid multiple visits to the office." He further explained, "People seeking complaints or documents will not face any difficulties as a staff member has been assigned to guide them through their respective tasks, and their issues will be resolved within minutes."
According to statistics released by the Police Facilitation Center, over the past month and a half, 2,167 character and clearance certificates, 360 driving licenses, 1,242 missing reports, 50 tenant registrations, and 560 miscellaneous issues at the women's desk have been addressed.
A separate women's desk, furnished with comfortable seating, was also observed, where men were not allowed to enter. A senior female police officer was seen addressing the concerns of women at the desk.
Senior female police officer Shah Khurram, stationed at the women's desk, told TNN, "When a woman brings an issue, we listen to her patiently to find a solution." She explained, "Whether it's related to their ID card, passport, lost mobile phone, or missing documents, I enter the details in my register and then personally take the form to the relevant desk to file a report so that women don't face any difficulties."
Khurram added, "Women are not required to go outside the desk area as all their needs are met here. While the remaining paperwork is handled by male officers, their interaction is only with me, ensuring that their privacy and cultural traditions are respected."
During a media briefing, District Police Officer Masood Ahmed Bangash revealed that this is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's first model of a Police Facilitation Center, established under the directives of the Inspector General of Police, and it will gradually be expanded to other districts.
DPO Bangash expressed his commitment to further enhancing public convenience by introducing five more features, including the registration of visitors' blood groups and a panic alert system. He explained, "In addition to maintaining a database of blood groups, police will be able to call volunteers in case of an emergency, if they consent, and the panic alert system will allow residents to press a designated button in case of a life-threatening situation, prompting immediate police action."
He concluded, "I have instructed my staff that this center must live up to its name as a 'Facilitation Center,' providing the public with maximum convenience to maintain trust in the police reform process."
