KMU Harassment Case Concluded: Grade-18 Officer Dismissed, Student Expelled Permanently

Peshawar: A harassment case at Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar has reached its conclusion, resulting in the dismissal of a Grade-18 officer and the permanent expulsion of the main accused student from the university.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi, praised the university's action in a post on X (formerly Twitter), calling it a decisive and effective step against harassment in a higher education institution.

According to Afridi, the Vice Chancellor of KMU received a harassment complaint on May 18 regarding an incident that occurred in the university's examination hall. An inquiry committee conducted a thorough investigation from May 19 to 23 with full transparency and integrity.

As a result of the findings, the Grade-18 officer, who had served for 17 years, was terminated from his position on May 26. The main accused student was permanently expelled and barred from future admission to KMU. Other students found to be involved were given minor penalties.

The Higher Education Minister applauded the KMU team for upholding the university's dignity and ensuring a safe academic environment by strictly adhering to a zero-tolerance policy on harassment.
