The KP Department of Meteorology has issued forecasts indicating a surge in daytime temperatures across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this week, accompanied by a potential for rain coupled with strong winds and thunderstorms over the weekend, particularly on Saturday and Sunday.

In response to this weather outlook, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued alerts to all district administrations, urging preemptive measures to address potential hazards from dusty winds, windstorms, and thunderstorms. Concerns about landslides in high-altitude regions due to rainfall and damage to standing crops from strong winds have prompted directives for district administrations to ensure the availability of necessary machinery for prompt response.

With rising temperatures expected, the public has been advised to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during the day and to take necessary precautions.

Farmers have been advised to adjust their watering schedules accordingly, particularly in wheat harvesting areas, in light of the anticipated weather conditions. Additionally, precautions against strong winds include staying clear of power lines, unstable structures, signboards, and billboards.

Both tourists and residents in vulnerable upland areas are urged to remain vigilant and stay informed about weather updates to mitigate risks effectively.

In sensitive districts, district administrations are urged to disseminate weather advisories to the local population in vernacular languages. Furthermore, in emergencies, all relevant agencies are tasked with maintaining road connectivity and providing alternative routes to manage traffic in case of road closures.

The PDMA's Emergency Operations Center is fully operational, and individuals can report any emergencies by dialing 1700.
