The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has released its performance report for the first six months of the year, stating that 182 militants were killed and 504 arrested in counterterrorism operations. Among those arrested were 14 key commanders of Fitna al-Khawarij.
The report was presented during a law and order meeting at the Central Police Office, chaired by Inspector General (IG) of Police, Zulfiqar Hameed.
According to the report, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out 2,004 intelligence-based operations during the six-month period. Police faced 294 militant attacks, of which 161 were successfully foiled.
With the help of advanced anti-drone technology, police also thwarted 341 drone attacks by militants. The report added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police established its first-ever UAV (drone) division during this period.

During various operations, police recovered two suicide jackets, 1,771 kilograms of explosive material, and other explosive devices. A total of 122 police officers and personnel embraced martyrdom in counterterrorism operations.
The report further stated that 10,718 suspects were arrested in anti-narcotics operations, while 10,173 proclaimed offenders were also taken into custody. Under the National Action Plan, 10,540 suspected individuals were detained. Police also arrested 8,125 Afghan nationals residing illegally in the province and registered cases against them.
Addressing the meeting, IG Police Zulfiqar Hameed said the protection of citizens' lives and property would be ensured at all costs, adding that indiscriminate action against militants and criminal elements would continue.
He also noted that around 50,000 police personnel performed security duties during Muharram, helping maintain a peaceful environment. He directed officials to further strengthen coordination with other law enforcement agencies to enhance counterterrorism operations.
