NADRA offices in Kurram district remained closed for the eighth consecutive day, causing severe inconvenience for citizens seeking Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs), B-Forms, and other essential documents. People have been visiting the offices for several days, only to return disappointed every evening without being served.

According to NADRA sources, employees have been protesting for the past week following an attack in which unidentified armed men opened fire on a NADRA team vehicle in the Tarali area of Central Kurram. As a result of the protest, all seven NADRA offices across the district remain closed.

Speaking to the media, residents said it was unfair to shut down all NADRA offices across the district because of a security incident in a single area.

They acknowledged that employees have the right to protest, but argued that the protest should remain limited to the area where the incident occurred, rather than affecting the entire district. They urged the relevant authorities to resolve the matter as soon as possible and reopen the NADRA offices so that citizens can access essential services without further hardship.

Meanwhile, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Kurram and Parliamentary Leader of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, Engineer Hamid Hussain, said that residents of Kurram have already been facing significant hardships over the past two years due to the prolonged closure of the main highway, the suspension of 3G and 4G services, and repeated disruptions to internet and mobile phone networks. 

He added that the closure of NADRA offices has further compounded the difficulties faced by the public, saying that such self-imposed restrictions are no longer acceptable to the people.
