Lower South Waziristan: Police have made a major breakthrough in the case of the murder of an 8-year-old boy inside a mosque in Zeri Noor, an area of Wana, by arresting the prime suspect.

According to police, the victim, Waqas, 8, son of Hazrat Umar and a resident of Zeri Noor, was allegedly slaughtered and killed by Ahmed, 18, son of Amir Hussain, also a resident of Zeri Noor. Police said the victim and the suspect were first cousins, while their fathers are real brothers.

Acting on the instructions of District Police Officer (DPO) Lower South Waziristan Muhammad Tahir Shah Wazir, SHO City Police Station Wana, Usman Khan Wazir, along with his team, launched an immediate operation, traced the suspect, and arrested him.

During the initial investigation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime, telling investigators that he had a personal grudge against his uncle. He said that because he did not have a gun or pistol, he decided to harm his uncle by slaughtering and killing his young son.

Police said the prime suspect was taken into custody following swift action and effective investigation, while further inquiries are underway to determine the motive and examine other aspects of the case.

Speaking on the occasion, DPO Muhammad Tahir Shah Wazir said the Lower South Waziristan Police remain committed to protecting the lives and property of the public, combating crime effectively, and bringing every offender to justice with honesty, impartiality, and professionalism. He added that the investigation is continuing transparently and strictly on merit.
