Unknown assailants opened fire in Takht Bhai tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mardan district, killing ASI Dost Muhammad, the additional in-charge of Khattano Police Post. The attackers fled the scene after the incident.

According to police, ASI Dost Muhammad was returning home from duty when unidentified assailants targeted him near the Sri Bahlol Labour Colony. He was killed on the spot.

After receiving information about the incident, Mardan DPO Masood Ahmed and other senior police officers reached the scene. Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, while checkpoints were established and raids were being conducted at various locations to arrest the attackers.

Police said a case has been registered with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), while further investigation is underway to determine the motive and other facts surrounding the incident.

The funeral prayer of martyred ASI Dost Muhammad was offered with full state honours at Police Lines Mardan. DIG Mardan Region Qasim Ali Khan, Mardan Deputy Commissioner Wasif-ur-Rehman, DPO Masood Ahmed, police officers and personnel, and members of the martyr’s family attended the funeral.

A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour to the martyred ASI. Senior officers laid floral wreaths on his coffin and paid tribute to him. After the funeral prayer, the body was taken to his ancestral village under police escort.
