Mardan: Woman, Infant Among Three Killed in ‘Honor’ Killing

A man in DI Khan died by suicide after a jirga forced him to give his 12-year-old daughter as Vani, prompting police action against those involved. In Lakki Marwat, a woman took her own life after her daughter died by suicide, with authorities investigating the incident as suspicious.

Three people, including a woman and a one-year-old child, were killed in an honor-related shooting incident in Rustam’s Taja Banda area of Mardan.

According to the FIR, the suspects climbed the wall of a house under the cover of darkness and opened fire, killing Sher Aman, his daughter-in-law (wife of Shahi Malik), and his one-year-old grandson, Shahi Malik.

Police revealed that the deceased woman had a court marriage with Shahi Malik two years ago, which angered her family. The case has been registered on the complaint of Nasim, a relative of the deceased, while an investigation is underway.

In Dera Ismail Khan, a father ended his life after a tribal jirga forced his 12-year-old daughter into Wani (a tribal practice of giving away girls to settle disputes).

According to details, in the Baghwani Shumali area, a local barber named Adil was devastated when a jirga decided to marry off his young daughter as compensation for an alleged social offense. Unable to bear the injustice, he consumed poison and left behind an audio message naming those responsible.

The dispute arose when Adil’s nephew was seen talking to the daughter of the accused Fareed at a wedding. Considering it an honor issue, Fareed took the matter to the tribal council, which imposed a fine of Rs. 700,000 on Adil’s family. However, days later, Fareed demanded "honor for honor," and the jirga forced Adil’s daughter into Wani, coercing him to sign a stamp paper.

Following Adil’s suicide, police registered a case at Paharpur Police Station, arresting three accused, while others remain at large. The victim girl has been rescued and returned to her family. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s IGP has taken notice of the case and sought a detailed report.

Lakki Marwat: Mother-Daughter Duo Die by Suicide Under Mysterious Circumstances

A tragic double suicide took place in Lakki Marwat’s Shahbaz Khel area, where a young woman and her mother took their own lives within minutes of each other.

According to police reports, Zainab shot herself with a repeater gun, and upon seeing her blood-soaked body, her mother, Razia Bibi, went into shock. Fifteen minutes later, she also shot herself in front of other women present in the house.

The police have launched an investigation, stating that the incident appears suspicious. According to Muhammad Nawaz, the complainant, the tragedy was linked to ongoing marital disputes between Zainab’s parents.

Authorities have gathered evidence from the scene and are exploring all possible angles to determine the real cause behind this heartbreaking incident.
