PESHAWAR: Mathematics emerged as the most difficult subject in the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar, with the highest number of failures recorded in both Class 9 and Class 10, according to the official gazette.

The gazette shows that 33,768 students failed the Mathematics paper, making it the subject with the highest failure rate among all subjects.

Chemistry recorded the second-highest number of failures, with 30,552 students unable to pass the paper, followed closely by Biology, where 30,392 students failed.

According to the gazette, 28,531 students failed Pakistan Studies, while 27,914 students were unsuccessful in Physics.

The compulsory Islamiat paper saw 25,542 students fail, whereas 15,186 students did not pass the English paper.

The gazette further reveals that 13,566 students failed the Mutala-e-Quran Hakim paper, 12,345 students failed General Science, and 11,474 students were unsuccessful in Urdu.
