Swat police have arrested a woman accused of abducting a newborn baby girl from the gynecology ward of Central Hospital.

According to police, they received information about the abduction of a newborn from the hospital’s gynecology ward the previous day. Following immediate notice by Swat DPO Muhammad Umar Khan, SHO Saidu Sharif Police Station Zia-ur-Rehman, along with police and a technical team, launched an operation.

Using CCTV footage and modern investigative techniques, police arrested the accused woman, identified as (R), a resident of Upper Dir and currently residing in Koza Bandai.

During the initial investigation, the accused allegedly took the newborn from her parents on the pretext of getting her vaccinated and then attempted to flee with the baby.

According to the Swat police spokesperson, the arrested woman has been transferred to the Women Police Station in Rahimabad for further legal proceedings.
