Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, has stated that Afghanistan has failed to take effective action against terrorist groups, leading to an increase in terrorist attacks in Pakistan, which now poses a threat to international peace and security as well.
He said that banned organizations such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Majeed Brigade, ISIS-Khorasan (IS-K), and other terrorist groups continue to operate from Afghan territory, while Afghanistan has consistently ignored Pakistan’s and other countries’ security concerns.
According to Asim Iftikhar, Afghanistan has not fulfilled its commitments to act against terrorist groups, resulting in significant human and financial losses for Pakistan.

He further stated that more than 5,300 terrorist attacks occurred last year, claiming the lives of over 1,200 people.
The Pakistani envoy warned that Afghan territory continues to serve as a safe haven for terrorist organizations. He added that there is still an opportunity to improve the situation, but time is running out rapidly.
