In preparation for Muharram, the Peshawar administration has imposed Section 144 to ensure public safety and order.

Effective from June 25 to July 25, this measure prohibits several activities, including the use of black windows on vehicles, aerial firing, the display of weapons, unauthorized use of police lights, unregistered vehicles, and double riding on motorcycles. Violations will be penalized under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

This strict measure is aimed at maintaining peace and preventing any untoward incidents during Muharram, a period that requires heightened security and vigilance.

Despite these preparations, the city has recently witnessed violent disputes among civilians. Four people were killed and three others injured in a shooting incident between two parties in the Daud Zai police station's jurisdiction. The conflict, reportedly over a property dispute, resulted in the injured and deceased being transported to Lady Reading Hospital.

In response to the incident, law enforcement officials visited the hospital and the crime scene. The SSP Operations directed police officers to gather all critical evidence and thoroughly investigate the matter. Special teams have been formed to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.

This violent episode is part of a troubling pattern of local disputes turning deadly in Peshawar. Just a day earlier, sixteen people were killed in separate incidents within a few hours, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by the local administration in maintaining law and order.

As Muharram approaches, the authorities are taking stringent measures to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of all citizens during this significant period.
