Last night, a tragic incident occurred in the Regi Model Town area of Peshawar when terrorists attacked a police check post, resulting in the death of two officers who were injured in the gunfire.
According to SP Warsak Arshad Khan, the attack took place late at night as the assailants approached the check post from a nearby graveyard at the entry point of Regi Model Town. During the attack, four police personnel who were on duty sustained injuries from the firing, and unfortunately, two of them succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the hospital.
After the incident, the attackers took advantage of the darkness and managed to escape without facing any resistance.
The two officers who lost their lives in this cowardly act have been identified as Van Driver Farman and Head Constable Wajid. Their bodies will be laid to rest in their hometowns with official honors today.
SP Malik Arshad further stated that a search operation is currently underway to apprehend the attackers. However, at this point, it is premature to determine their exact number or identity.
It is distressing to note that terrorist activities in Peshawar have been on the rise. Just yesterday, a car-borne suicide attacker targeted a security forces vehicle in Hayatabad, resulting in injuries to eight personnel.
