A man who opened fire on Mall Road in Rawalpindi was killed by security forces. According to security sources, the deceased was identified as Muhammad Hussain, a resident of Khyber district and an active PTI member.

Security sources said a PTI party flag, weapons, ammunition and important documents were recovered from the deceased. Further investigation into the incident is underway.

Commenting on the incident, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said there was no justification for a PTI worker opening fire at a security official. He condemned the act of carrying weapons and firing in broad daylight.

Attaullah Tarar said PTI protests have always been associated with violence and incidents involving weapons, adding that today’s incident had also brought several things to light. He said a party flag and other documents were recovered from the PTI worker.

The federal minister alleged that PTI wanted to create anarchy and disrupt law and order in the country. He said Pakistan would continue to progress and the country and its people would achieve success on every front.
