In view of the ongoing extreme heat and heatwave, Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has established 30 special heatwave camps in 10 districts of the province, where affected individuals are being provided with immediate medical assistance and essential facilities.

According to Director General Rescue 1122 Shah Fahad, the camps have initially been set up in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Khyber, Mohmand, Swabi, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan, Mardan, and Buner to ensure timely assistance for people affected by the intense heat.

He said that 142 people have so far received first aid at these camps, while 69 medical personnel and 14 Rescue 1122 vehicles are deployed to serve the public.

The DG Rescue 1122 added that the camps are equipped with clean drinking water, ORS (oral rehydration solution), essential medicines, and first-aid facilities.

He advised citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, drink plenty of water, and take special care of children, the elderly, and people with existing medical conditions. In case of heatstroke or any emergency, the public has been urged to immediately contact the Rescue 1122 helpline.

Meanwhile, according to the PDMA spokesperson, most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms from July 1 to July 5. The authority has also warned of possible landslides in upper districts and flash flooding in local streams and nullahs during the forecast period.
