Following a continued increase in petroleum product prices, the All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance has announced a 5% increase in freight charges.

All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan, reacting to the rise in petroleum prices, said goods transport fares would be increased by 5%.

Malik Shehzad Awan said daily changes in petroleum product prices were unacceptable. He said the nationwide strike had been postponed for 40 days following assurances from the government, which had sought 40 days to resolve the transporters’ issues. The deadline will expire next week.

He said the alliance would announce its future course of action after the 40-day period ends.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a march towards Islamabad on September 20 against the petroleum levy.
