At least seven police personnel were martyred and 18 others injured in a suspected suicide bombing near the main gate of a police station in Kabal, Swat.

According to DIG Malakand Syed Fida Hussain, the explosion occurred near the police station gate at Kabal Chowk while local youth were staging a protest in the area.

The latest figures released by the Assistant Commissioner Kabal confirmed that seven police personnel were killed and 18 others sustained injuries in the attack.

DPO Swat Muhammad Umar said that a human head was recovered from the blast site, raising suspicion that it may belong to the suspected suicide bomber.

The DIG said the attacker was attempting to enter the police station, but officers on duty stopped him at the main gate, where he detonated his explosives.

Following the incident, police, security forces, and rescue teams cordoned off the area and launched relief and rescue operations, while the injured were being shifted to nearby hospitals.
