A high-level meeting was held at Corps Headquarters Peshawar to review the overall security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Interior Minister, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the National Security Adviser, and the Corps Commander Peshawar, along with senior civil and military officials.
Participants paid tribute to the civilians and security personnel who were martyred in incidents of terrorism.
It was decided that PSL matches scheduled for this year will be held in Peshawar.
The meeting also decided that, as a model, administrative control in Malakand Division will immediately be placed under the provincial police and other provincial institutions.
Following its successful implementation, the model will be extended in phases to affected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly Khyber, Orakzai, and Kurram.
A special sub-committee headed by the Chief Minister will be formed to ensure effective monitoring of all development projects initiated in these districts and to review any military operations. The committee will hold monthly review meetings.
The special sub-committee will include elected public representatives, the Corps Commander Peshawar, the Chief Secretary, the Inspector General of Police, provincial officials, and representatives of federal institutions.
The committee will oversee governance and development projects in these districts, create opportunities for alternative livelihoods to ensure sustainable income for local populations, and make effective arrangements to address the issues of temporarily displaced persons.
It was agreed that through effective coordination between the federal government and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, full policy alignment and consensus would be ensured to tackle the critical issue of terrorism.
Sustainable employment opportunities will be created to prevent extremist tendencies among youth and to promote positive thinking.
The meeting also decided to continue strict action against illegal SIM cards, explosive materials, and extortion. Additionally, phased profiling of non-custom paid vehicles will be undertaken.
